Community Testimonials
Their words reflect the real hopes, needs, and excitement that fuel our mission.
We have seen promise — and setbacks. “Over the years I’ve seen many businesses open and close too quickly, or renovations start and then stall, leaving buildings vacant or back on the market. We have history here that deserves to be told, but too often capital and planning issues get in the way. What’s really needed is the right kind of support — including some form of business training — to help projects succeed and last.” — Local Resident & Business Owner
History remembered, but support denied. “We’ve applied for grants numerous times and been turned down, even when funds were allocated. The process of writing and filing is difficult, and our community too often gets passed by. The original 1926 Route 66 came right through our town, but in 1928 it was rerouted and bypassed downtown. We carry both the good and the bad of that history, and we’re still looking for the support to help us move forward.” — Local Resident & City Employee
Pride runs deep, but challenges remain. “Across local news stories and social media, a common theme emerges. Communities often bet on big investments that don’t always deliver, or fight to save historic structures only to face new hurdles with funding and logistics. Many projects rely on countless volunteer hours — filled with pride but driven by necessity — along with grassroots fundraising through T-shirt sales, bake sales, commemorative bricks, and sourcing building materials however possible. These efforts reflect true dedication, yet the challenges remain high.” — Community Voices, Local Media & Social Platforms
